Devlog #004: A New Engine, Our Own Home, and Heading Towards the Closed Beta
June 17, 2026 • 2 min read
Hey everyone! If you’re reading this from our new landing page, welcome. It’s been a while since my last update, and while things might have seemed quiet on the outside, Katze Social has actually gone through its deepest transformation yet.
I want to be completely honest with you about the decisions I’ve made over the last few months, where the project stands right now, and why this new direction is the most solid one I’ve ever had.
Clearing the Table to Build It Right
Sometimes, to move forward with strength, you have to stop and look at the foundations. After analyzing the performance and my overall workflow, I made the decision to close the main repository. Don't worry, all the progress I made in React hasn't been lost; it remains intact in a legacy repository that I’ll keep open for reference.
The reason for this shift? Katze Social has evolved. I left React behind and officially migrated the project to SvelteKit 5.
Without getting too technical: this technology allows me to develop with incredible speed and lightness, structuring the platform in a much cleaner way. Thanks to this, I’ve been able to get back to work at a much more consistent pace. Right now, I am completely focused on the core web infrastructure to make sure the backbone of the app is ultra-stable.
Moving Into Our Official Home!!
If you are reading this, you probably already noticed: we have our own domain! We have officially moved to katzesocial.com, which from now on will be the home of the project and the main hub for all updates.
Additionally, to have a formal communication channel ready for future questions or reports, I have set up and deployed the official support email: support@katzesocial.com.
Next Steps: Closed Beta and Staff
I know the question on everyone’s mind is when you'll finally be able to use the platform.
With the new infrastructure moving along at a great pace, I estimate that in the coming months, or even weeks, I will be announcing a new closed beta test. This will be a quick run to validate the essential features with a small group of users and revive the community's spark before opening the doors to the general public.
Since an independent, community-driven space needs structure to grow safely, alongside the beta announcement, I will soon be opening spots for the staff, focusing primarily on moderation roles.
Katze Social was born from the community and for the community. Seeing it take such a real and scalable shape keeps me incredibly motivated to keep grinding on the code.
Thank you so much for your patience and for staying hooked! I'll catch you very soon with the beta details.
